The selvedge is the finished edge of a hand-woven bolt of cloth — the part that proves the maker meant it. It is the opposite of fast, of disposable, of "good enough."
Every piece in the workshop is finished on every face. The undersides get the same attention as the tops. The joinery shows where it should and disappears where it shouldn't. There is no production schedule and no laminate. The pieces take as long as they take.
We use Atlantic Canadian hardwoods where we can — white ash, sugar maple, black walnut, eastern pine — and only solid lumber. No veneer over MDF. No laminate. No engineered wood.
Finishes are food-safe and natural. The Selvedge balm is used on every piece before it ships.
